Schinkel Pavillon opening: Masist Gül

This exhibition presents a selection if works by Masist Gül, a Turkish actor and self-taught artist who produced works in various media, including drawing, painting, engraving, and poetry. The artist’s original comic books are presented in the Schinkel Pavillon, together with other objects from Masist Gül’s estate, in a solo exhibition curated by Banu Cennetoğlu and Philippine Hoegen. Cennetoğlu and Hoegen are visual artists. They published Gül’s books in facsimile as part of their artist’s book series BENT. Cennetoğlu and Hoegen’s contribution to the 5th berlin biennial, a night event entitled One Night Stand, can be visited on May 24, 2008 in KW Institute for Contemporary Art. Masist Gül was born in 1947 in Istanbul (TR) and died in 2003 in Istanbul. Banu Cennetoğlu, born in 1970 in Ankara (TR), is based in Istanbul (TR). Philippine Hoegen was born in 1970 in Kitzbühel (AT). She lives and works in Amsterdam (NL).
