Film evening labournet.tv

labournet.tv is a living audiovisual archive of the labour movement. The five videos we want to show should give a hint of the diversity and the richness of this movement.

We will start with "Don't Get Caught In A Bad Hotel“, which is an intervention in solidarity with precarious hotel workers in San Francisco. We will then show a video about the general strike in Spain on March 29th, 2012, which describes the link between the workers' struggle and the Occupy movement. Then, we will show two videos on the situation of workers in Egypt after the Arab revolution. They protest against the privatisation of a company that used to be the biggest electronic producer in the Middle East and foresee that wage-dependents after the revolution will be in a better position to fight for their rights than before.

And finally, we will show a film about a fundamentally different way of organising production: Cecesesola is a network of cooperatives in Venezuela and they made a self-presentation video, in which we see the cooperatives reflecting on their history and their mode of organisation.
