“Is influence a question of ignorance? Once, while driving through London, I was astonished to pass a beautiful, gray car and screamed: ‘I can’t believe a Ditella is running around on the London streets!’”. The Foundation and Instituto Torcuato Di Tella, founded in 1958 by the Di Tella family, and the Centro de Artes Visuales del Torcuato Di Tella, founded in 1963, have left behind a legacy of avant-garde artistic and musical experimentation. Serendipitously, their origin also coincides with the very first SIAM Di Tella 1500, an automobile manufactured in 1960 by British Motor Corporation and modeled entirely on the Riley 1500. Artists Dolores Zinny and Juan Maidagan will address the ways in which coincidence, confusion, influence, and ignorance intertwine in life and in art and attempt to untangle some of the mysteries surrounding the Instituto Di Tella, British cars, Jorge Luis Borges, burned buildings, and other conjectural objects. Dolores Zinny and Juan Maidagan were born in Rosario (AR), they live and work in Berlin (DE).
