Excursus and Never Say in Private What You (Won’t) Say in Public
Books launch in English
Juan Gaitán, Mariana Munguía and Carlos Amorales
The evening introduces two publications, Excursus, the 8th Berlin Biennale’s book, and an editorial project by Carlos Amorales about his work on the Biennale.
Excursus was conceived as a surplus venue of the 8th Berlin Biennale that expands the time and space of the exhibition. Developed by the 8th Berlin Biennale curator Juan A. Gaitán in collaboration with Artistic Team member Mariana Munguía and graphic designer Maricris Herrera, Excursus is a compendium of visual propositions made by the participating artists of the 8th Berlin Biennale, meant to reflect on the force and autonomy that images have today and the power they exert on our political imagination.
Never Say in Private What You (Won’t) Say in Public follows the intellectual background behind Carlos Amorales’ film for the 8th Berlin Biennale The Man Who Did All Things Forbidden. It is structured in eight chapters, which include drawn sketches, emails, and conversations during the rehearsals, the Ideological Cubism manifesto and documents on interventions in mass media.
